Alice in Libertine and the Doorman at Oz

Mar17

A Red-Hot Riding Hood with cloaked intentions is ready to face the wolves in Libertine’s fairytale disco. Accompanied by a small group of eccentric friends, our protagonist follows the velvet rope-lined yellow brick road in her ruby red heels. Like Hansel and Gretel, they hastily take the bait and descend into a forbidden morass of glitter, embellishments, and mystical forest motifs.

For the morning-after witch, brunch has never been so necessary.

What we wear where.

Jan03

Diverse nightlife calls for distinct looks – not out of a desperate attempt to fit in, but out of the amusing desire to a play different sides of ourselves.

Thakoon Addition = The Wren

The faded paisley of country-side sensibility meets urban ease in this newly-opened Bowery bar. Order a ‘Gamble’ to combine taste with practicality – blending freshness with tried-and-true.

DSquared2 = Electric Room

Anglophiles with a naughty streak will leave their toggled toppers at coat check near the velvet curtains. Past suggestive neon signs, DSquared2 girls lose inhibitions over surprisingly stiff drinks on Union Jack couches.

Erin Fetherston = The Jimmy

Open and airy, yet effortlessly sexy, The Jimmy offers an attractive crowd unrivaled Soho views. Erin Fetherston’s lacey separates match the rooftop’s intriguing vibe without becoming too fussy.

Moschino Cheap and Chic = The Westway

Lucite walls and mood-lit floors pair well with fetishized Lolita frocks and heart-adorned platform shoes. Moschino Cheap and Chic offers the kind of love you can only find off an unassuming slice of the West Side Highway.

You Smell Like Last Night's Party

Jul15

Last night's party involved scented undergarments, vodka lemonade, and Alan Cumming.

Held in Liberty Hall of The Ace Hotel, his provocative "anti-celebrity" launch party drew us in with a lively crowd of industry insiders.

Gone are the days of being accosted by aggressive perfume ladies with scented paper strips. Thursday’s event provided a table of fragrance-soaked briefs by Nasty Pig. Naturally, guests were encouraged to take a whiff.

Balancing a glass of organic vodka in one hand and twirling a tiny, scented pair of men's briefs in the other? Forget what you learned in Consumer Behavior 101, kids -- because that's what we call 'marketing'.

Marching Forward

Mar09

[Edit: The Beautiful Chaos, March 16]

March sucks. Fashion Week has passed, every weather report threatens rain, and transitional-dressing is always difficult. So while you've been schlepping around your umbrella in vain, stuffing extra layers in your oversized tote, and longing for the Fashion Week nights of free champagneDL has been marching forward...

Wednesday, March 16: Blaise + Co. Comtemporary Art Presents "The Beautiful Chaos: A Style Installation." Good thing we got word of the correct day of this event, or else we would have arrived a day late. Artist Damon Johnson will celebrate the fusion of underground art and fashion at Gallery Bar from 7:00-10:00pm.

Thursday, March 17: "WHAT?" The Black Soft hosted by The East Village Boys at Pyramid Club. After enjoying your wine at Gallery Bar, meet us over on Avenue A to check out EVB's latest discovery. Lady Bunny will be there, why won't you?

Tuesday, March 22: Tumi "Tag with Us" Event, celebrating their new collaboration with graffiti artist, John "Crash" Matos. From 6:30-9:00pm, join us on 12th Street as we meet Crash, view the collaboration, and throw back a few cocktails.

Posters, Models, Boats

Feb05

Most people tip their mailman during the Christmas holiday. If we knew our mailman, we'd tip him right before Fashion Week. Invites of all sizes begin satiating our hungry little mailbox; one that exclusively handles junk mail and credit card bills during the rest of the year. As I was rifling through yesterday’s mail, one invite stood out in particular.

When I unraveled the poster-sized Geisha-in-an-opium-den image, I immediately knew I was going to be making room in my Fashion Week schedule. The Blonds had the most fun last season and this invite looks nothing short of extraordinary. But be sure to read the fine print:

Invitation management isn’t the only Fashion Week preparation we engage in. Today I’ll be sitting in on Lois Eastlund’s model casting. Her February 14th runway show is quickly approaching, so click here to support the fabulous!

Tonight, we’ll be heading west for another debaucherous Saturday evening. Before Starboard Hudson goes on a one-month hiatus, DL will be boarding the boat once more for music, neon, and the occasional makeshift photo shoot. The party at Starboard will return for their Mardi Gras event, taking place on Saturday, March 12. The Chainsmokers will be bringing their high-energy performance on board and Kirill from KirillWasHere will be there to capture all the madness.

Just Fur Fun

Jan26

In light of Madisen’s recent Winter Weather Advisory, we decided to further encourage those who have already taken the necessary steps towards chicness. With the help of libertine party photographer, Kirill Bichutsky, I have compiled some fur-ocious looks from a few fashionable night-owls.

January doldrums, be gone -- Style inspiration looks best after dark.
