District L

Back in February 2007, the District L duo attended Milan Fashion Week for our second season. After a long couple days of fashionizing, we made a point to have dinner at Il Ristorante Trussardi. In a word, it was perfect. It was luxuriously chic, not overtly trendy and loud. It was well thought out, yet not pretentious, and absolutely delicious. While reviewing Trussardi 1911's runway show this season, I got a similar taste.

At a first glance, I immediately thought of Carine Roitfeld. The looks were body-conscious, yet not forced. Sexy, but relaxed. Confident, but not gregarious. Will we see these pieces in the Paris front-rows? I look forward to it.

Advisory: This post will be using the terms "White Trash" and "Chic" in the same sentence. Never will these terms be used in similar sentence structure ever again.

White trash chic was the campy theme of Dean and Dan's runway show. Channeling patriotic pick-up trucks, pregnant prom queens, and porch drinking, Dsquared2 used an unspeakable amount of prom dress fabric, fleece, and trucker hats. Is it a jab at our ignorant, unsophisticated society? Were they watching too much blue collar comedy? Regardless, we always expect a crazy show from Dsquared2... and they always deliver.
